Trails Affected by Cow Creek Fire

about 1 mile of the Stealey Mountain South Trail and a bit of the Courthouse Trail are within the fire perimeter.  Wildfires are usually not continuous within the fire perimeter, so we don’t know yet how much of these trails actually burned.  The area remains closed to public use by the Forest Service.  We recommend you check with the Forest Service in Montrose, 970-240-5300, before entering the area, watch for posted signs regarding closures and hazards, and remember that burned areas can be hazardous due to falling trees, loose earth, and other dangers.
